Reserve a Session
I will arrive comfortably before the session to set up lights and backdrops as needed. Posing will be guided but open to athletes input. For teams, sessions start with the full team photos followed by individuals and then 'content' photo for you to use throughout the season. Team parents can make print orders at the session.
Portrait Session
Woohoo! Your printed photos will be delivered to your coach. Digital photos will arrive as an online gallery for you to download. Share the photos right away! *and tag your photographer ;)

Nate did graduation photos for our daughter at EWU. He did an amazing job! He took her to some beautiful locations on campus that really captured the college/graduation vibe she was looking for. He did a great mix of traditional poses and fun action shots. Nate was a good sport and even let her take some pictures with her dog. Sports photo sessions can be held at your home field, school or club gym, local park, stadium, or any location that fits your sport and overall vision.
During the winter months or when weather is a factor, all sessions should be conducted indoors.
In most cases, the client is responsible for securing the location and time for the session. I can provide a certificate of liability insurance if the venue requires.
Where do sports photos take place?
Yes. I bring a posing guide to all sessions for athletes to either copy or use as inspiration. Dramatic posed portraits can be scheduled before or after games, during media days, at a practice or as a separate session. These photos are great for the athlete, their family and friends to enjoy as well as for posters, banners, and recruiting profiles.
Do you offer posed sports portraits?
Print rights are available for private use only. Commercial usage or brand partnerships can be licensed separately if needed.
For private use, all images are delivered at the same resolution my camera produces minus any minimal cropping that may occur to make the images look their absolute best. After purchasing digital files, you can take the images to your preferred print lab or use my professional lab for accurate colors and long term photo integrity.
Do I get print rights?
You bet I do! There is no way around it, professional photos look best printed by professionals who care! I personally chose my photo labs because they consistently check the color calibration on their printers and use high quality papers and inks intended to hold their color and structural integrity best over time.
Do you have a professional print lab?
Yes, I love to do natural light sports photos as well. Natural light sports photos have a a clean softness and a bright quality that makes them quite nice. Go check out my Seniors page to see examples and my general style of natural light photos. Natural light sports photos can be done for teams or individuals in youth sports to high school seniors and college athletes.
Do you do natural light sports photos?
Team sessions typically take 45-90 minutes depending on team size and any add-on services. Here is a general break down of how team sessions go.
1. Photographer arrives ~45 minutes before the session time.
2.All parents and athletes need to be present at the start of the photo session for instructions and forms
3. Team photo with assistance by a coach or available helper
4. Athletes get to go through a pose guide and choose 3 poses for their individual photos
5. (5) Team 'content' photos - these photos are up to the coach but can be used as media to announce games, events or fundraisers. Content photos should use groups of 2+ athletes. Additional content poses can be added on.
6. Athletes looking for more poses may purchase a mini session once team photos have concluded.
7. Photographer takes ~45 minutes to pack out. Please ensure the venue is available for the entire time needed for photos.

What to expect for team sessions
Mini dramatic sports photo sessions are the perfect way to get more poses and group photos with friends or family than typically available during a team session. Perfect for a seasonal sport, mini sessions are a popular choice as they have a lower time and cost commitment than a full private session with a handful of poses included rather than a full gallery. Sessions take 5-10 minutes with your choice of poses.
Mini sessions have limited availability but can be done in a couple ways. 1. Mini sessions may be added on after a team photo session. 2. Mini sessions may be formally reserved by any group with at least 5 mini sessions scheduled at the same time.
Athletes looking for more poses or perhaps poses with multiple sports are encouraged to schedule a private session.

What to expect for sports mini sessions
Individual dramatic sports photo sessions are a great add-on to senior photos or can be the entire senior photo session. Private sessions are scheduled for 30-60 minutes at your choice of one available venue and may include 1 or more sports during the session. Friends or family are welcome to jump in any desired photos. Private sessions can be a mix of dramatic sports photos with all the lights or using natural light to create a good variety of looks in a gallery.
In most cases, the client is responsible for securing the location and time for the session. I can provide a certificate of liability insurance if the venue requires.
What to expect for private sport sessions
- Your sport, club or hobby uniform or outfit
- Gear, equipment or instrument related to your photo session
- Water - if its a hot day, you're going to want to stay hydrated
What should I bring for my sports picture session?
Dramatic sports photography offer a moody or fierce feel that emphasizes emotion and intensity, stylized lighting, minimized backgrounds, and a traditional or cinematic composition. The final images often feel like magazine or poster-style shots.
