Lake Chelan Wedding Photographer Darnell’s Resort Wedding Damon and Caitlin
A private clubhouse overlooking the water at sunset and ending with the most spectacular wedding fireworks was the absolutely perfect setting for this Lake Chelan Wedding at Darnell’s Resort.
Lake Chelan is a short 2.5hr drive over the central Washington plains. As such, I am happy to be a Lake Chelan wedding photographer. On this particular occasion, I arrived in Chelan two days before the wedding. Being so early allowed me to relax and enjoy the beautiful setting before the big day. Although we had our timeline completely set and questions answered, I was fully available to answer any questions that may have arisen. I also took the time to scope out the best locations for photos at and near the venue.
Lake Chelan Wedding Day
Wedding day came together with high spirits and happily moved from one event to the next. All this in excited anticipation of the fantastic fireworks show to come after sunset.
You see, the bride and groom are avid fireworks aficionados. They work on professional firework displays primarily in western Washington. They sell fireworks together at a retail stand and actually build some of their own fireworks at pyrotechnic conferences! In fact my own connection to the pyrotechnics industry and ability to photograph fireworks was the prime reason I was asked to be their photographer. Caitlin and Damon’s Chelan wedding was full of love, fun spirit, and happiness as friends and family came together to celebrate their special day. The day started quite relaxed in the penthouse suite overlooking the glittering lake.
Chelan Glam was busily working with makeup and hair. Meanwhile the groom, groomsmen and family were setting up for the day’s festivities. After the dress reveal with first look pictures and formal photos there was a nice time for the bride and groom to break away to rest before the ceremony.
From the Ceremony on
Lake Chelan and the beautiful mountains around it became the magnificent backdrop to a ceremony intermingled with special memories and camping quips. After the ceremony was the cocktail hour. Followed by the presentation of the most lavish charcuterie board I have ever seen! It was a thing to behold. Later, I snagged the couple at sunset for some golden hour photos on the lake as the guests danced away until dark. Once it was dark enough, a barge anchored in the lake began to shoot off a firework display so magnificent that it easily rivaled the 4th of July show done on this very lake. It is no wonder that the wedding party was telling everyone in town what would be happening that weekend!
After the fireworks were done and the last dance was called, we all went our ways. Me? I went and got some ice cream, yum 😉

While I was in Chelan, my family and I had a fancy dinner at Vin Du Lac Winery. The winery is beautifully set on a knoll overlooking the lake. Vin Du Lac Winery had delicious food, exceptional service and I look forward to visiting this location again on a future trip 🙂
